Adisucipto (or Adisutjipto) International Airport (IATA: JOG, ICAO: WARJ) is the principal airport assisting the Yogyakarta area  on the island of Java, Indonesia.

Adisucipto Airport is the 3rd busiest airport in Java, after Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta and Juanda International Airport (SUB) in Surabaya.

History

Passengers setting down from a Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737-400 aircraft and continuing to the depot construction

Adisucipto Airport was anteceded by a districting dry land at Maguwo which was used prior to and during the Second World War. It takes the name after Adisoetjipto, a airplane pilot who was assassination during an assail on Maguwo by the Dutch on 29 July 1947, while winging Dakota VT-CLA for the Indonesian Air Force.

This airport was to a great extent damaged by the 27th May 2006 quake and had to be closed for 2 solar days. Some divisions of the landing track were break and the departure lounge break. During those 2 solar days, most voyages to and from this airport were call off or rerouted to Adisumarmo International Airport, Solo. After it returned to service on 30 May 2006, all riders used the international lounge until the new domestic departure lounge was ready. During this time period, rider comfortableness was bear upon as the airport as the international lounge was projected only for approximately 100 riders at a clip.

International Routes

The airport got an international airport on 21 February 2004 with the 1st voyage to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia functioned by the Indonesian flag bearer Garuda Indonesia. This was the realization of Yogyakarta's wish to have its own international airport after battle for over 30 yr. One calendar month after, Garuda Indonesia functioned its 2nd international voyage to Singapore. Before Adisucipto got an international airport, Yogyakarta depended on Bali and Jakarta as the gateways for its international craft and touristry. Unfortunately, due to low claim, Garuda Indonesia stopped international voyages from this airport on November 2006.

International voyages restarted on 30 January 2008 when AirAsia started to wing the Yogyakarta - Kuala Lumpur path using Airbus 320 aircraft. From one February 2008, Malaysia Airlines also start out to assist the Yogyakarta - Kuala Lumpur path functioning Boeing 737-400.

On April 2008 AirAsia raised its Yogyakarta - Kuala Lumpur voyage's oftenness from 4 clips weekly to daily.

On December 2008, Garuda Indonesia reopened its Yogyakarta - Singapore voyage functioning 3 clips weekly. AirAsia also set about to wing Yogyakarta - Singapore voyage on 24 March 2009 functioning daily.

Development

The place of this airport is unusual since the depot is only approximately ten m from a line. Therefore there is a masterplan to construct Adisucipto as "fluxed depot" by construction a railroad station and bus depot in the airport. Adisucipto is being reformulated in say to cope with the increasing figure of riders. However, there is still a job over limited district and the border environment. The building of an subway which links the depot construction and new parking-lot (to the northward of the railroad train railway line) has currently been finished.

The building of a new railroad terminal to the northward of the airport has currently been finished. It's named Maguwo Baru Station.

There is a further programme to continue the landing track by 300 m to the east (the landing track shall be 2,500 m in length) alongside with new taxi strip, continue the apron that it shall be able to deal 11 Boeing 737-400s and two Boeing 767-300ERs, and spread out the depot.

Accidents
