Whangarei Aerodrome (IATA: WRE, ICAO: NZWR) is a little airport 4NM (7.4km) to the south-east of Whangarei town, in the suburban area of Onerahi, on the east seashore of Northland on the North Island, New Zealand.

History

Whangarei airport was constituted before World War Two as an Air Force grooming ground. It had three grass landing track ab initio, with it being cut down to two landing track (06/24 and 32/14) after the conflict. The old barracks are still present currently, although border by residential belongings.
The being landing track, 06/24 was upgraded in the 1960s to its current length of 1097 m, and the being depot was built on the northern side of the independent landing track in the early 1970's.
The airport depot was upgraded in the early 90's to provide for Eagle Airways aircraft, alongside with Ansett New Zealand.
