Wagga Wagga Airport (IATA: WGA, ICAO: YSWG), is turn up adjacent to RAAF Base Wagga. The field is an operational ground, but is rent by the Wagga Wagga City Council on a 30 yr rent from the Australian Department of Defence, with RAAF Base Wagga being a solid ground grooming ground. The field is still used by armed forces aircraft, largely transport aircraft transporting cargo or riders.
History
The airport was constituted in 1937 by the Wagga Wagga Municipal Council, In 1938 passed on command was given to the Royal Australian Air Force.
On 28 January 1992 the Wagga Wagga City Council procured a 30 yr rent from the Commonwealth of Australia which included $2 million dollars to upgrade the airport's landing track which is able to manage a Boeing 737.
