It is 1 of the 5 airports in Sicily with polite intentions, but is also used for armed forces issues (viz. the ground is used as 1 of the 4 Forward Operating Bases used by the NATO AWACS sent out of Geilenkirchen Germany]). The airport is named after Sicilian vino industrialist and auto partisan Vincenzo Florio.
Located 13 kilometre south-west of Trapani, and kick off in the early 1960s, after a long time period of inactiveness the airport was relaunched by the Province of Trapani in 2003, and currently it hosts several voyages, included new low-cost connexions.
With 533.310 riders having passed through the airport in 2008, it is the 3rd busiest airport of Sicily.
