History
The airport was constituted in 1932 as division of the Kerala Flying Club (under the enterprise of Colonel Goda Varma Raja). The three-storeyed construction with an area of 20,000 sq. meters, projected by a pool of 3 corporations, is of tubular project. All modern installations such as moving staircase, lifts and aerobridges shall be furnished. The depot shall be able to manage the riders of 2 A-300s and 1 Boeing 747 aircraft at a clip.
To enable the riders to check in at anybody counter, a Common Users Terminal Equipment (CUTE) shall be set up. X-ray machines shall be attached to the side of the conveyor belts for faster clearance of luggage. The check-in area will have a floor area of 950 sq. meters and the reaching area 570 sq. meters. The one-year deal capacity of the depot shall be 13.3 hundred thousand. The gate to the depot shall be from the Chaka-Eenchakkal route.
