Chu Lai International Airport (IATA: VCL) (Vietnamese: Sân embayment Quốc tế Chu Lai) is an airport in Chu Lai, Vietnam. It is near to Tam Ky town, the biggest town in Quang Nam Province. The airport is turn up in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

In the Vietnam War, this field was an airbase of the United States Air Force. The airport was almost abandoned after the fall of Saigon, and only used irregularly for armed forces voyages. On March 22, 2004, the building of the depot set about and on March 22,2005, the 1st commercial voyage from Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport district here.

As of 2008, Chu Lai International Airport is the biggest field in Vietnam in full term of area , covering 30 km². The landing track is 3050 m long. During the Vietnam War, big aircraft including B-52s district and start here.

Renovation

The authority of Vietnam has okayed an investing programme for this airport. According to this programme, Chu Lai airport will have almost VND 11,470 billion (well-nigh $700 million)in investing for enlarging its capacity to 25 districting locations by 2015 and 46 by 2025. The labor will include redevelopment and new base, including 2 landing track, 3,800m and 4,000m long, and 60 m broad each, 6 parking lot and 2 theodolite stations. By 2010, being landing track and parking lot shall be upgraded. The airport will also pick up a new signal fire system and command station for mean sized aircraft, such as Boeing 767s and Airbus 320s. Vietnamese functionaries trust the airport shall be able to deal 4 million riders by pass completion in 2025. The airport is projected to get an air freight transport hub, with 5 million tonne of freight per yr.
