Szczecin-Goleniów "Solidarność" Airport (Polish: Port Lotniczy Szczecin-Goleniów im. NSZZ "Solidarność") (IATA: SZZ, ICAO: EPSC) is the independent domestic and international airport assisting the town of Szczecin in Poland and is turn up 45 kilometre nor'-east of the town, near the city of Goleniów, in the small town of Glewice. About 1.6 million inhabitants dwell within its catchment.

History

The airport was build between 1953-56 at the tallness of the Cold War, five kilometre east of Goleniów. It was build as a standard armed forces airport with a 1,800 m x 45 m landing track and basic airport base (depots, air traffic control tower, etc.). In 1967, the civilian airport at Dąbie was relocated to the location and named Port Lotniczy Szczecin-Goleniów. In 1976-77 the landing track was continued to 2,500 m and a new rider depot was build. Works to ameliorate the landing track and the independent apron were attempted in 1998. The airport’s electricity furnish together with the landing track and draw close visible lighting was upgraded in 1999. A new rider depot was opened in 2001 and further enlargement works set about on the depot in 2005. Construction begin on a new air traffic control tower in 2004, and was complete by the finish of 2005. The depot enlargement reason out in April 2006, at which clip the airport was renamed for the "Solidarność" trades union.
