Stephenville International Airport (IATA: YJT, ICAO: CYJT) is an airport turn up 1.5 NM (2.8 kilometre; 1.7 mi) southeastward of Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It was made by the United States Air Force and functioned as Ernest Harmon Air Force Base from 1941-1966.

History
In 1941 the United States obtained rights to build a United States Army Air Forces ground in the St. George's Bay area of Newfoundland. The U.S. 76th Congress okayed the 99 yr rent and in April 1941, building set about.
The USAAF ground was originally named to as Stephenville Air Base. However after the USAAF went the United States Air Force in 1947, it was renamed Ernest Harmon Air Force Base on June 23, 1948, in honor of Captain Ernest Emery Harmon. Harmon was a US Army Air Corps unity who was assassination in an air crash in 1933.
On September 1, 1943, the Newfoundland Base Command reassigned command of Harmon Field to the North Atlantic Wing, Air Transport Command. The ground got a division of the Northeast Air Command in October, 1950. Then in April 1957, the Strategic Air Command take for granted command.

Since the late 1990s, Stephenville has been denominated as 1 of 5 Canadian airports suitable as an emergency districting location for the Space Shuttle.
On one April 1990 the airport was further denominated for jump use, fueling only, by international scheduled air transport and for international civil aviation regular use.
Operation Yellow Ribbon
On September 11, 2001, 8 civilian airliners do unscheduled landings at the Stephenville Airport coming after the closing of North American air space in the wake of the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, DC.
