History
The airport was constituted in 1925, and was entirely reconstructed in 1941 by Panair do Brasil ("necessities of conflict", declared the American and the Brazilian authorities). Its old name was Santo Amaro do Ipitanga.
In 1955, the airport modified its name to Dois de Julho, and, in 1998, to the present name, although Salvador's occupants largely elongate to bring up to the airport by the older name Dois de Julho, which marks Bahia Independence Day.
In 2000, the airport underwent a major redevelopment which made the airport 1 of the most modern airports in Brazil.
