Minangkabau International Airport (IATA: PDG, ICAO: WIPT) is the principal airport assisting the district of West Sumatra on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is turn up approximately 23 kilometre north west of Padang, in Ketaping, Padang Pariaman regency. There is 1 depot construction for both international voyages and domestic voyages. The airport has 17 check-in counters, five luggage conveyers, and nine ticket sales counters.
The territory area of the airport is 4.27 km². It has 1 landing track:
- R/W Heading 15/33 : 2,750 m x 45 m
There is a project to continue the landing track by 250 m to be compatible with Boeing 747 aeroplanes, and also to link the airport to the town of Padang with a railroad train service.
The depot enlargement (Phase II) is already denoted and the rendering is already let go in Angkasa Pura two internet site.
The airport got operational in July 2005, replacing the old Tabing Airport in Padang. The airport is named after the Minangkabau ethnos who populate the district.
