Newman Airport (IATA: ZNE, ICAO: YNWN) is an airport near Newman, Western Australia. Situated 11km from the city center, it is the most ready characteristic of transport between Perth and Newman.
The airport is owned and back up by the Shire of East Pilbara and air hose services are functioned by Northwest Travel Services. Newman's primary air traffic is make up by a mixture of visible light aircraft, Qantaslink and Skywest voyages. Qantaslink and Skywest wing to Perth only (with the exclusion of their regular charter voyages) whereas the visible light aircraft wing to outer communities as good as to Port Hedland and other Pilbara cities.
Events
Drag rushes were held on the airport landing track each year. However due to increasing claim on the airport, Drag Races will no longer be maintained here.
Expansion labor (2008)
The Airport is now undergoing an enlargement labor to ameliorate both client service and services to the air hose that use the airport.
The new depot construction will supply better services such as conveyers in a new undercover luggage aggregation area , and a bigger waiting appartment. The installation is being funded by the Shire of East Pilbara. Completion is judged by early-2009.
The new macadamise shall be able to back up Boeing 737-800 aircraft as good as the current Boeing 717 aircraft making a aggregative capacity of 4 aircraft. In addition, one-half of the antecedently being macadamise shall be reserved strictly for the visible light aircraft. The macadamise was finished in mid-2008.
