The airport has 4 landing track.

Berry Field Air National Guard Base is turn up at Nashville International Airport. The ground is place to the 118th Airlift Wing, an Air National Guard unit operationally-gained by the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), as good as the homes office of the Tennessee Air National Guard.

History

The airport 1st opened in 1937 as Berry Field. It was named after Harry S. Berry, the Tennessee decision maker for the Works Progress Administration. It distribute alongside 340 acres (1.4 kilometretwo) on Dixie Parkway (currently Murfreesboro Road).

During World War II the flying field was used by the United States Army Air Force Air Transport Command 20th Ferrying Group for move of new aircraft from the United States to abroad places.

A much bigger depot opened in 1961 to deal increased air traffic. It was the place for several scenes in the 1975 Robert Altman picture Nashville, and was get at off Briley Parkway. The current rider installation on Donelson Pike was opened in 1987, and was projected for a new American Airlines hub. A yr after, it was renamed Nashville International Airport/Berry Field to reflect its new position. While it is currently real rare to see the "Berry Field" component part used, the airport's IATA codification reflects the old name; it is short for Berry Field NAshville.

In 2002, Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services (EAMS) pick out Nashville as the place for its Regional Airline Support Facility.

Initially, American scheduled 135 voyages daily designated for 60 different towns. An international wing was build in Concourse A to adapt Nashville's service to London. However, air hose service with American top out in 1992 and in the days that come after, paths were flash back until finally American stopped functioning in Nashville at the hub position. Though BNA lost American, Southwest rapidly fill up the nullity by clutching 47% of the Nashville market place and make it a focal point town. Nashville International Airport is assisted by 14 bearers. More than 375 mean daily coming and going away voyages function from 47 air bearer entrances. Nashville International furnishes direct air service to 90 marketplaces. BNA means a aggregative of 523 commercial, civil aviation, air cab, and armed forces voyage functioning per solar day.
