Mosjøen Airport, Kjærstad (IATA: MJF, ICAO: ENMS) (Norwegian: Mosjøen lufthavn, Kjærstad) is a regional airport assisting Mosjøen in Nordland, Norway. In 2007 Mosjøen Airport had 76,294 riders. It is owned and functioned by the province owned Avinor.

Service

The airport is assisted by Widerøe with Dash eight aircraft linking the community of interests to Bodø and Trondheim. The paths are functioned on public service duty with the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications.

History

The airport was opened in 1987 as division of the last group of regional airports to be built in Norway.

In 2002 the Ministry of Transport set up an thought of uniting the 3 airports assisting Northern Helgeland, Mosjøen Airport, Sandnessjøen Airport and Mo i Rana Airport into a new airport at Drevjadalen in Vefsn, 15 kilometre northward of Mosjøen town (55 kilometre from Sandnessjøen, 70 from Mo i Rana). But meteorologic proves do by Avinor demonstrated that the area  had overmuch fog to assist as an airport. The thought was to make 1 new airport with a big enough landing track to let down Airbus A320/Boeing 737 aircraft direct from Oslo, and pull round unneeded to function subsidied regional aircraft to Helgeland. The road burrow Korgfjelltunnelen opened in 2005 made a dependable and fast route between Mosjøen and Mo i Rana (it's not nice to have an frequently stopped route between an airport and the biggest town it assists). A more better route to Sandnessjøen is planned and is take. As of 2007 the thought of a new airport is abandoned by both Avinor and the Ministry of Transport.

Ground transport

The airport is turn up 20 min. out of city. There is no bus company to the airport, but cab are available.
