Avalon Airport (IATA: AVV, ICAO: YMAV) is the 2nd busiest of the 4 airports assisting Melbourne and is turn up in Avalon, Victoria, Australia. It is turn up 23 klicks (14 mi) north east of the town of Geelong and is 55 klicks (34 mi) to the south west of the province's capital town of Melbourne.

History
Aircraft building
Avalon Airport was opened in 1953, to provide for the production of armed forces aircraft.
Previously the Government Aircraft Factory turn up at Fishermans Bend, Melbourne had used a landing track beside their manufacturing plant. However, newer jet plane claimed a longer landing track length for safe functioning, and the Fishermans Bend landing track was being encroached upon by development. Land near Lara was bought by the Commonwealth Government for a new installation. The location of the airport was originally division of the Avalon homestead and sheep station.
A 10,000 human foot (3,000 m) landing track was made by Country Roads Board, with the 1st aeroplane districting on three April 1953 - a four engined Avro Lincoln bomber winged from Fishermans Bend. The Canberra jet plane bomber was under building at same clip at the new airport.
In 1985 the Government Aircraft Factory modified its name to Aerospace Technologies of Australia (ASTA). Aircraft brought forth during this clip had included the Sabre jet plane scrapper, Jindavik remotely-piloted aircraft, and Nomad polite aircraft.
