Madurai Airport (IATA: IXM, ICAO: VOMD) is a public airport assisting Madurai, in the province of Tamil Nadu, India. History

Development

Phase-I

The cost of this phase I clinical trial around Rs 22 crore. The contract was presented to PNCRDS, an Agra-based syndicate. This stage was finished by December 2006. Work on building of a Rs 2-crore firehouse within the airport premises is in advancement.

Phase-II

The enlargement of the depot construction is take up in phase-II. Construction of depot construction is in advancement.

Madurai is 1 of the 35 non-metro airports under upgradation. The airport has named Axis Bank and Vienna airport pool to survey the feasibleness of town side development to clear non-aeronautical gross.
