Łódź Władysław Reymont Airport (IATA: LCJ, ICAO: EPLL), once known as Łódź-Lublinek Airport, is a regional airport in central Poland, turn up about 6 kilometre (3.7 mi) southwestward of the Łódź town centre.
The airport has been in functioning since September 13 1925 and has late undergone a figure of upgrades enabling it to care services by low cost air hose to destinations in Europe.
It has lately been named after the celebrated 20th century Polish author and the victor of the 1924 Nobel Prize in Literature, Władysław Reymont.
History
The Łódź airport opened on September 13 1925. During World War II, the German busying squeezes ameliorated the airport for armed forces use, by construction a concrete 1,200 m (3,937 foot) landing track. In the immediate postwar yr the airport was a key transport hub, but that office fall by the 1950s with the development of Warsaw airport. By the finish of the decennium, regular rider connexions to Łódź were suspended.
Efforts to resume rider traffic were attempted in the 1990s. In 1997 a new rider depot (capacity approx. 50,000/yr) was opened.
Since 1997 Port Lotniczy Łódź-Lublinek sp. z o.o. (Lodz-Lublinek Airport LLC) has been the operator of the airport, modifying its name in 2007 to Port Lotniczy Łódź im. Władysława Reymonta Sp. z o.o. (LODZ WLADYSLAW REYMONT AIRPORT LLC).
On October 31 2002 an ILS/DME System (instrument districting system/distance measure out equipment) was set up at the airport.
In September 2005 the landing track was continued from 1,443 m (4,734 foot) to 2,100 m (6,890 foot) in say to adapt bigger aircraft such as the Boeing 737.
On October 28 2005 a new rider depot (capacity approx. Approximately 300,000/yr) was opened.
On October 30 2005 the 1st Boeing 737 in the history of the Łódź Airport district.
On January 19 2007 the landing track extension to 2,500 m (8,202 foot) was set into use.
