The airport is turn up near the small town of Brnik, about 26 kilometre (16.2 mi) northward of Ljubljana and 11 kilometre (6.8 mi) southward of Kranj on the route between Kranj and Mengeš. It has a 3,300 meter (10,827 foot) paved landing track. The airport was opened on December 24, 1963.
It is named after Jože Pučnik (1932-2003), Slovenian intellect, contestant and politician.
Brnik Airport is place to Adria Airways, the Slovenian flag bearer. There is now 1 low-cost bearer assisting the airport: EasyJet which link Ljubljana to London Stansted. A figure of other air hose also assist the airport.
On December 8, 2004, the airport had its 1st one-year millionth rider. Overall, the airport dealt 1,524,028 riders in 2007. It is by far the busiest airport in Slovenia.
The airport is assisted by a main road outlet off the A2 state highway and by bus company linking it with Ljubljana and Kranj. A railway line to both towns is be after as good.
