Capitán Vicente Almandos Almonacid Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto de La Rioja - Capitán Vicente Almandos Almonacid) (IATA: IRJ, ICAO: SANL) is the independent airport in La Rioja Province, Argentina assisting the town of La Rioja. In 2007, 41,155 riders used La Rioja Airport.
The airport was named for Vicente Almandos Almonacid (1882-1953).
History
The airport was built in 1948, and was officially kick off with an LADE Viking voyage on October 11th, 1948 (getting together La Rioja with Buenos Aires vía Río Cuarto, San Luis, Santa Rosa and Córdoba). The 1st depot was build in 1951. 1952 Aerolineas Argentinas set about winging to La Rioja.
In 1969, a new landing track was paved (old 1: 18/36 GRASS, new 1 03/21 ASPHALT). In 1978 a new depot was made, and in 1990 air status was set up.
It has a 940 m² rider depot, 85,000 m² of landing track, 33,800m² of Taxiways, 1,730 m² depot and a parkland location for 70 auto.
Since March 16, 1999, it has been functioned by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000.
