Kimmirut Airport (IATA: YLC, ICAO: CYLC) is turn up at Kimmirut, Nunavut, Canada, and is functioned by the Government of Nunavut. Unlike most airports in Nunavut, it uses magnetic heads for the landing track instead than true heads. Kimmirut, Iqaluit, and Sanikiluaq are the only Nunavut airports in Southern Domestic Airspace, where landing track heads are given in grades magnetic. All other Nunavut airports are in Northern Domestic Airspace, where landing track heads are given in grades True.
The Kimmirut landing strip is 1 of the shortest in Nunavut. At 1,900 foot (579 m), the only shorter strip is Arctic Bay, which uses the nearby and longer Nanisivik Airport for commercial voyages.
The Grise Fiord landing strip is merely somewhat longer than Kimmirut at 1,950 foot (594 m). The length of the landing track and disputing terrain at both Kimmirut and Grise Fiord boundary the type of aircraft that is able to service those communities. Currently, both are assisted by air hose functioning Twin Otter aircraft.
