Kassel Calden Airport (German Flughafen Kassel-Calden) (IATA: KSF, ICAO: EDVK) lies 13 kilometre as the crow wings northward of the German town of Kassel. Built on farming area 908ft ASL lying NNE of the Hoher Dörnberg, the airport was opened on 11 July 1970. The airport has a individual asphalt landing track, 04/22 (040°/220°), which is about 4900ft long and 100ft broad. There is a parallel grass strip northward of the independent landing track, which is about 2900ft long and 100ft broad. It has been functioned as a public-private partnership since 1991.
Future development
There are current programmes to blow up the airport to a full regional airport, with a projected increase in the landing track length to about 8200ft and breadth to about 150ft to adapt commercial leased and scheduled bearers.
