Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (Indonesian: Bandar Udara Internasional Halim Perdanakusuma) (IATA: HLP, ICAO: WIHH) is turn up the Indonesian capital Jakarta, and was the town's briny airport until the opening of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng in 1985. This airport takes its name from Halim Perdanakoesoema, an Indonesian flyer who lost in a violent storm in Malacca Strait after go back from India with his friend, Iswahjoedi in 1947. Until then, it assisted all international paths bond for Jakarta. The airport is currently place to a large figure of turbo-propeller plane, charter and civil aviation corporations. It is also a major air pressure ground of the Indonesian Air Force and is place to most of its major squadron such as the 31st air squadron and the 17th VIP air squadron.
In the 1960s the airport was also known as the Halim Perdana Kusumah Air Force Base', and before it was known as Tjililitan Airport, the borough where it lies.
This airport is currently used for private and presidential intentions only. Government functionaries are also let to use it. In 2007, President George W. Bush district at this airport on his see to Indonesia. Former Indonesian President Suharto's hearse was lifted to Solo in Central Java on 28 January 2008.
