Hilo International Airport (IATA: ITO, ICAO: PHTO), once General Lyman Field, is a public airport of the province of Hawai'i in Hilo CDP, Hawai'i County. Most voyages to Hilo International Airport are from Honolulu International Airport by the 4 major Hawai'i-based bearers: Hawaiian Airlines, Mokulele Airlines, Island Air, and travel!. Between April 28, 2006 and April 2, 2008, ATA Airlines furnished daily non-stop service from Oakland, California, to Hilo aboard its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, furnishing direct service from the mainland to Hilo for the 1st clip since 1986.
Facilities
Hilo International Airport is assisted by 2 landing track, Runway 8/26 and Runway 3/21. Runway 8/26 is 9,800 human foot (3,000 m) long and is used for major air bearer functioning including the take-off and districting of leading commercial jetliners. Runway 3/21 is 5,600 human foot (1,700 m) long and is used for civil aviation functioning including take-off and districting of little commuter train planes.
The rider depot complex, including commuter train installations, is at the southern border of Hilo International Airport and is assisted by an access roadway from Kekuanaoa Avenue, between the rider depot complex and the Runway 3/21 to the due west. General air power installations are turn up alongside the eastern border of Runway 3/21, also assisted by the depot access roadway. A parkland apron for transient armed forces aircraft is supplied at the western border of the landing track. Air freight installations are turn up alongside Operations Street on the west side of Runway 3/21, location of the old rider depots from 1953 to 1975.
