Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (IATA: GUM, ICAO: PGUM), also known as Guam International Airport, is an airport turn up in Tamuning and Barrigada, 3 land mile east of the capital town of Hagåtña (once Agana) in the U.S. district of Guam. It is named for Antonio Borja Won Pat, the 1st depute from Guam to the United States House of Representatives, and is functioned by the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA), an authority of the Government of Guam.

The airport is a hub for Continental Micronesia and the freight bearer Asia Pacific Airlines.

The airport's history set about as Agana Naval Air Station (Brewer Field) after World War II. Operations of the civilian depot (Guam International Air Terminal) was go across onto the Government of Guam's Department of Commerce in 1969. In 1975, the Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA) was made as a separate government agency. After Agana NAS was closed in April 1995, GIAA took over the entire airport's functioning.

The 1st rider depot construction (currently the unused Commuter Terminal) was opened in 1982. The current, much bigger depot construction was opened in stages between 1996 and 1998.

A Houston Chronicle article in 2008 say that anticipated subsequent armed forces buildup and population development is able to guide to an enlargement of Continental Micronesia voyages to and from the airport.

Customs, in-migration, and security reviews

Arrival rider review is dealt by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP, in-migration only) and Guam Customs & Quarantine Agency (GCQA). Departure security check out are dealt by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

Since Guam is outside the United States usages legal power, all reaching riders (since there are no intra-Guam voyages) go through GCQA review, and going away riders on the Honolulu-bound voyage (now the only Stateside going) go through a normal USCBP usages review upon reaching.

The USCBP inspects all coming riders except the nonstop voyages from the States. Passengers coming from the Northern Mariana Islands (a U.S. commonwealth) have to go through USCBP review as the Northern Marianas are now outside of U.S. in-migration legal power. For U.S. citizens, recommendations are not claimed moving into Guam from the Northern Marianas (i.e. other characteristics of ID turn up admissibility are accepted), but are claimed for those transiting a foreign land between the States and Guam.

The USCBP also deals a pre-clearance of nonstop riders bond for Honolulu. Because of the Guam-only Visa Waiver Program, which gives holidaymakers from sure Asian nations visa-free entry (to Guam only but not the United States), Honolulu-bound riders are inspected for their admissibility to the U.S.

The TSA deals security review for all going away riders and all theodolite riders not getting from the U.S. including the Northern Marianas, which are already tested by TSA at their sources. However, Guam-Honolulu riders who have onwards connexions moldiness go through TSA review in Honolulu because they will have touched their check over luggages during U.S. usages review there.

Terminal project job station 9/11

Since there are no intra-Guam voyages, the airport's post-security concourse and entrance area  has no general separation. The only normal rider gate is through security and the only normal outlet is through in-migration. Except for the few entrances denominated for Honolulu reaches, which path riders direct to usages, all other entrances do not have a separate reaching corridor. Arrival riders walk direct into the entrances waiting area , and is able to really buy nutrient or duty free shop before moving into the in-migration hallway.

The original project is stated to be compliant with security criterion at the clip of opening. However, after the September 11, 2001 assails, the U.S. authority set about to claim separation of uninspected reaching riders. The airport's current pattern is to use a system of chairs, locomoting pavements, personal chattel queue up barriers and security/laws staffing to show getting riders from the entrance to the in-migration hallway without coming into contact with going away riders.
