Pitt-Greenville Airport (IATA: PGV, ICAO: KPGV, FAA LID: PGV) is a public airport turn up 2 land mile (three kilometre) northward of East Carolina University, the central downtown (CBD) of Greenville, a town in Pitt County, North Carolina, USA. The airport covers 872 acres (353 ha) and has 3 landing track. It is largely used for civil aviation, but is also assisted by 1 commercial air hose. The airport director is James Turcotte.

PGV and local functionaries are in treatment with United Airlines and its regional spouse, Colgan Air, to furnish two daily voyages between PGV and Washington Dulles.

History

The Works Progress Administration build the Greenville Airport in 1940 on district that was jointly owned by the town of Greenville and Pitt County. A Civil Pilot training Program functioned from the airport until it was rent by the United States Navy on May 1, 1942 to be an outlying field of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. The field was under used until November 30, 1942, when it was denoted that it shall be upgraded by the Civil Aeronautics Administration.

The 1st Marine Corps winging squadrons to come were reconnoitre bombing squadrons VMSB-343 and VMSB-344 in January of 1944. July saw the reaching of scrapper squadrons VMF-913 and VMF-914 and October conveyed the picture reconnaissance mission squadrons VMD-354 and VMD-954. During the conflict Outlying Field Greenville was the busiest of MCAS Cherry Point's outlying fields.
