The airport does not assist the district or town of Jaén although it has Jaén in its name. The airport is turn up near to Chauchina and Santa Fe, approximately 9.4 land mile (15km) due west of Granada and 62.5 land mile (100km) southward of Jaén. On June 13, 2006 it was officially named for the poet Federico García Lorca from Granada. Most traffic is domestic Spanish voyages, although there are international routes to Liverpool, London, and Milan. Also paths to Bologna with Ryanair are anticipated.
