With 4.3 million riders in 2006 it is Sweden's second-largest airport (after Stockholm-Arlanda). It is functioned by the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (Luftfartsverket).
The airport is named after the small city of Landvetter, which is turn up in the municipality of Härryda. It is 20 kilometre east of Gothenburg and 40 kilometre due west of Borås. Gothenburg's 2nd international airport is Gothenburg City Airport. History
The airport was opened in 1977. Passenger services, antecedently at Torslanda Airport, northward of Gothenburg, were travel to Landvetter in 1977. Later, some budget air hose set about assisting the former army base in Säve, which was renamed from Säve Flygplats to Gothenburg City Airport.
