Gisborne Airport (IATA: GIS, ICAO: NZGS) is a regional airport on the outskirts of Gisborne on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Gisborne Airport is rare among airports in that it has a rail line, the Palmerston North - Gisborne Line, cut across the independent landing track.

Eastland Group Management

On 16 December 2004, Gisborne District Council (who antecedently owns and antecedently functioned the airport) voted to allow Eastland Group oversee the airport and rent the plus from one April 2005. Gisborne District Council still stays owner of the plus. The rent runs for 15 yr with an option to continue it for a further 15 yr.

Quote from Eastland Group's Website

Eastland Group pay's Gisborne District Council an one-year rental fee indexed to rider figure and is accountable for all capital investing. It bears all lay on the line connected with the airports gainfulness, extinguishing the take for ratepayer subsidy.

Over the next 5 yr, Eastland Group programmes to back up and upgrade the airports being plus and spread out its capablenesses. Some of this has already presented with the constitution of the new airport coffee bar 'V2', new airport logotype and many other improvements.
