The airport has been given the name of President Mohamed Boudiaf. Muhammad Boudiaf (June 23, 1919 – June 29, 1992) (Arabic: محمد بوضياف), also named Si Tayeb elevated railroad Watani, was an Algerian political leader and 1 of the establishers of the subversive National Liberation Front (FLN) that directed the Algerian War of Independence (1954–1962).
