North Central West Virginia Airport (IATA: CKB, ICAO: KCKB, FAA LID: CKB) is a public airport turn up in Bridgeport, approximately 6 land mile (9.7 kilometre) east of Clarksburg, both towns in Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned and functioned by the Benedum Airport Authority, assisting Harrison and Marion County, and was once known as Benedum Airport and Harrison-Marion Regional Airport. The airport is largely used for civil aviation, but is also assisted by 1 commercial air hose. Service is subsidised by the Essential Air Service programme.
History
The airport 1st opened in 1935 as the Tri-County Airport, a joint attempt of Harrison, Marion and Taylor County. It was a grass landing strip functioned on rent district. In 1937, Marion and Taylor County pulled away from the labor. In 1938, Harrison County bought additional district and expanded the airport. The current airport dominance was constituted in 1960. The landing track was continued to a length of 7,000 human foot (2,100 m) in 1999.
Facilities and aircraft
North Central West Virginia Airport covers an area of 434 acres (176 ha) and incorporates 1 asphalt paved landing track denominated 3/21 which measure out 7,000 x 150 foot (2,134 x 46 m), surviving the 2nd longest in the province. (Lewisburg 7,004 foot.). It also has 1 helipad denominated H1 with a 50 x 50 foot (15 x 15 m) concrete surface.
