Campbeltown Airport (IATA: CAL, ICAO: EGEC) is turn up at Machrihanish, 3 NM (5.6 kilometre; 3.5 mi) due west of Campbeltown, near the tip of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll and Bute on the west seashore of Scotland. It is still owned by the Ministry of Defence, under a 'care and upkeep' program, but a division of the field is currently run as a commercial company by the Highlands and Islands Airports Limited, a corporation under the command of the Scottish Government.

The airport was once known as RAF Machrihanish (after the small town of Machrihanish) and hosted squadrons of the Royal Air Force and other NATO air pressures as good as the United States Marine Corps. It is currently named MoD Machrihanish. The airport is at a strategical point over the Irish Sea, and was used to guard the gate to the Firth of Clyde where US nuclear pigboats were ground at Holy Loch and where Royal Navy Trident missile pigboats are still found at HMNB Clyde (Faslane Naval Base).

Permanent full clip armed forces functioning stopped in 1997.

At 3,049 meters, Runway 11/29 at Campbeltown Airport is the longest of anybody public airport in Scotland. It was built in World War II to allow heavily-fuelled aircraft to depart on transatlantic voyages. It is evidenced to accept the Space Shuttle should it need to do landfall in Europe, and supplies for the Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft to acquire airborne once more.

Campbeltown Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P808) that lets voyages for the public transport of riders or for winging direction as pass by the licensee (Highlands & Islands Airports Limited).
