Calgary International Airport, (IATA: YYC, ICAO: CYYC), is an international airport that assists Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the border district; it is situtated about 17 kilometre (11 mi) nor'-east of the business district core group. The airport offers scheduled daily nonstop voyages to leading towns in Canada, Europe and the United States. Calgary International Airport is the ground town of WestJet Airlines, is a hub of flag bearer Air Canada, and is also a hub for Air Canada Jazz. The airport is 1 of eight Canadian airports that has US Border Pre-clearance installations. It is Canada's 4th busiest airport by rider traffic and 3rd busiest by aircraft motilities, with 12.5 million riders and with 246,370 aircraft motions in 2008. In October 2008, the Calgary Airport Authority was named 1 of Alberta's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc., which was denoted by the Calgary Herald and the Edmonton Journal.

Cargo installations

Main airport hallway

Apron II is the independent freight installation at the airport which is able to park up to 4 Boeing 747s. Apron VII is also used as a freight installation, principally for FedEx Express and Purolator Courier. FedEx is amongst the freight bearers that use Calgary as a hub at Apron VII. Purolator has a installation in the northwest corner of the field adjacent to Apron VII. Apron VII used to maintain merely 2 Boeing 727s but has been able to parkland an additional 3 McDonnell Douglas MD-11s for FedEx since November 2004.

As of November 2007, enlargement building are in advancement for Apron VII to let 7 parkland aggrandises, including 3 for Purolator and 4 for FedEx. UPS Airlines has set about building of a new center, including an apron direct southeastward of FedEx's installation.

General air power

General air power installations are turn up on the southward side of the field. These installations include a Shell Aerocenter, an Esso Avitat, Calgary Flight Training, a usages construction, and more.

Runways

There is a architectural plan to construct a 14,000 foot (4,267 m) parallel landing track east of the airport (16L/34R).

Runway 16/34 is the longest landing track in Canada. This is able to be ascribed to the comparatively high lift, 3,557 foot (1,084 m), of the airport and the take to back up the biggest rider aircraft types. Aircraft claim more distance to start out at higher lifts, because of the decreased air denseness connected with height.

Concourses

There have been architectural plans to construct another concourse. The depot has 3 concourses, 1 of which is officially split into 2, to adapt transborder and international voyages:

Concourse A

Concourse A consists Gates one to 19, included a regional entrances on the 1st stage. The Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge is turn up merely beyond security on Concourse A. Concourse B

Concourse A and B are linked behind security by a paseo, alleviating connexions for Air Canada voyages. When all Gates in the B/C subdivision are "C" entrances, then this walk is closed due to US Customs & Border Protection preclearance for USA-destined voyages. All Air Canada international voyages and some domestic voyages go away from the B concourse. During Domestic and International functioning the B Concourse security installations (2 lanes) are open. Passengers use the Concourse A security installations during off-peak time period.
