It is named after full general Milan Rastislav Štefánik (since 1993), whose aircraft crashed near Bratislava in 1919. The airport is run by the Letisko Milana Rastislava Štefánika – Airport Bratislava, a.s. (BTS), a public limited corporation. Till May 2004, the airport was run by the state-run entity Slovenská správa letísk (Slovak Airport Administration). In 2008, the airport assisted 2,218,545 riders, corresponding a 9.6% increase compared to 2007 and more than a 700% increase compared to 2001.
Location

Ground transportation system
Bratislava Airport is able to be hit from the town center, which is by route 9 kilometer off, or from D1 state highway.
