Bintulu Airport (IATA: BTU, ICAO: WBGB) is an airport assisting Bintulu, a city in the province of Sarawak in Malaysia. The airport is turn up 5.5 kilometre southwestward of the town, and although little, it is able to deal airplanes as big as a Boeing 747. History

History of Bintulu airport set about in early 1937 when the British settlement constructed an field located between a river at 1 stop and the sea seashore at the other finish.

Bintulu old airport was open for functioning on one September 1955, with a grass surface landing track providing for Rapid and Twin Pioneer aircraft functioned by Borneo Airways Limited.

In 1963, larger types of aircraft such as DC3 services were presented.

In 1966, the landing track was resurfaced with bitumen and the depot construction was also continued to provide for increasing figure of rider.

On first of July 1968, Malaysia-Singapore Airlines presented scheduled Fokker 27 services into Bintulu. The depot construction and the parkland apron was continued in 1981 to adapt Fokker Friendship (F50) aircraft.

In September 2005, 1st low cost air hose in Malaysia, AirAsia set about functioning in Bintulu airport. Fax Air Services, subsidiary corporation for AirAsia has taken over major domestic paths relating Bintulu, set about its functioning on August 2006.
