Barter Island Long Range Radar Station (IATA: BTI, ICAO: PABA, FAA LID: BTI) is a public/armed forces airport turn up near the town of Kaktovik on Barter Island, in the North Slope Borough of the U.S. province of Alaska. The airport is owned by North Slope Borough. It is also known as Barter Island LRRS or Barter Island Airport.
History
The original landing track was made by the United States armed forces in 1947. The U.S. Air Force take for granted command of Barter Island in 1951 and continued the landing track in 1953 as division of the installing of a Distant Early Warning Line (DEW Line) microwave radar station.
