Andøya Airport, Andenes (IATA: ANX, ICAO: ENAN) (Norwegian: Andøya lufthavn, Andenes) is the airport assisting Andenes, Norway, in the municipality of Andøy. It is turn up right next to the city of Andenes, and covers major divisions of the northern tip of island Andøya. It is division of Andøya Air Station, who function Orion surveillance aircraft. The Norwegian Space Centre and Andøya Rocket Range are also turn up at the airport.

Despite 2 long landing track, the airport is division of the Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) web in Norway, being assisted by Widerøe. Andøya Airport is owned and functioned by Avinor.

History

The 1st thought of construction a armed forces airport was set up at a NATO running across in Lisbon in 1951. In March 1952 the Norwegian Minister of Defence, Nils Langhelle denoted that the airport was going to be made. There were multiple proposed places, and the determination fell on the small town of Haugnes. The entire settlement with 310 inhabitants was expropriated to derive enough area  for the airport.

The 1st aircraft districting took location on September 17, 1954. The air station was operational from the fall of 1957. After a while, civilian services were asked for, and on April 2, 1964 the 1st scheduled voyage was flown by Scandinavian Airlines. In 1968, the 2nd landing track was complete. In the 1970s the airport got division of the new web of regional airports in Lofoten and Vesterålen with authority subsidized functioning with de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft sitting 20 and functioned by Widerøe. From April 1, 2006 the public service duty was won by Coast Air who functioned services to Bodø and Tromsø. Coast Air denoted that they would abandon the path from April 1, 2007. The contract to function was presented to Widerøe once more.
